The ISPR responded strongly.
He said Musharraf could not be a traitor because he had been the army chief, chairman, joint chief and head of state. The media is at a loss as to how to present the position of both sides.
The condition of the judiciary is also such that it cannot go back and forth. Lawyers who have represented Musharraf’s cases at exorbitant fees or held public office are losing their allegiance.
The nation wonders why the plaintiff government is upset with the verdict in its favor. On the one hand, the judiciary seems to be happy with Nawaz Sharif going abroad despite being convicted and on granting bail to Asif Ali Zardari, and on the other hand, it gets the medal of favoritism in ruling against Musharraf.
I have never seen or heard such a point in a case that has been going on for years. Probably because everyone believed that the decision would not come !!
The price of Musharraf’s adventure in Kargil was paid by our soldiers. Our soldiers, sitting on the tops, continued to drink the flour and embrace death by giving azans.
Without special clothing for the snowy peaks, supplies were depleted, soldiers were sent to the peaks to die without training. The sons of brave mothers, hungry and thirsty, shivered in the cold and sacrificed for the beloved homeland. After all, he was someone’s son, brother and father !!
Shouldn’t Musharraf, as Army Chief, be held accountable?
Then he imposed martial law in the country and made a strange logic to make the country a company and become its chief executive.
In 2001, he alone announced his unconditional support of the United States for the continuation of his government. He lied to the nation that I had been threatened, but Colin Powell wrote in his book that we asked for a concession on fourteen points in the hope that one or two would agree, but Musharraf became a scapegoat and all agreed.
Musharraf used to say, “I am not afraid of anyone.” He was not really afraid, but when he had to sacrifice his nation, his principles, his army for his personal gain.
Asking who stabbed the Taliban in the back? Reading Mullah Zaeef’s book, one wonders how his Muslim diplomat brother was handed over to Aghiar like a criminal.
What did this cruel man do to the daughters of Jamia Hafsa? As rulers, weren’t they his daughters? Didn’t those surviving girls deserve justice? Most of them were refugees from the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.
Musharraf threw phosphorus bombs at the Nahti girls and burnt them alive. What an emergency it was that he was killed without trial. Arresting them, prosecuting them and punishing them if found guilty.
Who gave Musharraf the authority to kill him? There was a case of his own which caused such a fuss over the verdict but he was sentenced to death without trial.
Without taking the nation into confidence, Kashmir was bargained with India without a bargain and it was practically divided, the consequences of which we are suffering today. Handed over and received dollars in exchange for which he was later acquitted by US courts.
It is said that Musharraf did not commit corruption. Isn’t it corruption to forcibly sell your people? Imprisoning judges in their homes, forcing them to make decisions, giving them NROs, killing patriots like Akbar Bugti who joined Pakistan in collaboration with Quaid-e-Azam.
The loss of countless promising military officers and young men in America’s so-called “War on Terror.” American soldiers were placed in the barracks of Pakistani military officers and our officers were subordinated to them.
When our army was facing hardships and difficulties on the border against India, Musharraf was busy celebrating “Basant” in Lahore and tarnishing the image of the army by dancing. He had no sympathy for his soldiers.
If he saw any disagreement in the army, he would indiscriminately dismiss him from court martial or job. Like “Raja Indar”, it was his job to consider the country as his fiefdom and to be intoxicated in dance and singing parties.
What happened at that time in a respected and principled institution like the army makes the pen tremble. Musharraf used our army like a mercenary army. He put every law of the country above the odds and put the whole nation at stake ahead of his personal desires.
Even today, they are hiding behind the army and using it for their nefarious purposes. The army has clashed with the judiciary for the sake of its ego. Soldiers are naive, honest and principled. For a soldier, the army is like a parent, but he defamed the army. The army chiefs who came after him tried to reduce the stigma, hatred and malice spread by him.
I am from a military family and I am proud of that. My father General Hameed Gul is retired from the Army and my husband is retired from the Pakistan Air Force. Our relationship is in the military. Our friends are soldiers. Our sympathies are with the army. Our first and last love is Pakistan and the army.
On my father’s death, the army conducted his funeral, burial and everything else.
